Outgoing Kanduyi MP Wafula Wamunyinyi of DAP-K and his successor John Makali of Ford Kenya met for the first time in months, in what turned out to be a fun-filled event.

On Tuesday, Makali took over from Wamunyinyi, who has served as MP for Kanduyi for 20 years.

While briefing his successor on the status of NG-CDF projects, Wamunyinyi highlighted some of the key projects which he had initiated towards the end of last term.

“We have the ongoing construction of a storey building at Moi DEB. Its completion will be determined by your relationship with the NG-CDF Board,” he appealed.

According to records from the school, there are 4,156 learners, making it one of the most densely populated primary schools in Kenya.

NG-CDF Board is putting up three storey buildings that will house eight classrooms each, under the Corporate Social Responsibility program in a bid to decongest learners.

Other projects that he appealed for their completion include another storey building at Ranje Primary School which is set to house 16 classrooms, as well as dormitories at Baptist Girls and Cardinal Otunga Girls.

“Learners at Cardinal Otunga have been forced to convert some classrooms into hostels due to their big number,’ Wamunyinyi lamented.

Equal distribution of resources

Kanduyi constituency is among expansive constituencies in the country, with eight wards and a population of about 300,000 people.

However, the national government distributes resources equally, to the disadvantage of densely populated constituencies.

“Those are some of the challenges we have been grappling with. I wish the resources were equitably shared,” Wamunyinyi pointed out.

On his part, Makali agreed to complete the projects as well as iniating more as he steers Kanduyi for the next five years.
