MP issues Uwezo Fund cheques to women, youth

Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya on Tuesday presided over the issuance of Uwezo Fund cheques in his constituency.

The function was held at Shianda DCC grounds, where women and youth groups received a total of Sh 1.118 million.

Salasya, a first term MP, was elected on  DAP-K party on August 9, 2022.

Speaking during the event, Salasya appealed to the central government to invest more in the fund.

“It was great moments for me as the area mp of Mumias East Constituency giving out cheques worth 1.118 M of wezo Fund to women groups and youths groups with business ideas. .I challenged the government to invest more in uwezo fund alongside hustler fund,” he said.

Uwezo Fund is a flagship programme for vision 2030 aimed at enabling women, youth and persons with disabilities access finances to promote businesses and enterprises at the constituency level.

It was launched on September 8, 2013 by former President Uhuru Kenyatta.
