DCI blasts newspaper over “false, inaccurate” headline

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations, DCI is now accusing a local daily of misreporting.

This comes a day after the daily ran a story under the headline: You won’t stop our probing, DCI boss tells off Gachagua.

The publication had claimed that acting DCI boss Massa Hamisi Salim, reprimanded DP Gachagua for his salvo of attack on DCI’s  “investigative style.”

However, DCI in its response clarified that the sentiments were not obtained from Salim and that the publication was false and inaccurate.

“The DCI’s attention is drawn to the headline of one of the daily newspapers insinuating that the Ag Director DCI has told off the DP over investigation style,” They said in a statement on their official Twitter handle.

“We clarify that the purported sentiments referring to the DP were not obtained from the Ag Director, neither are they his position.”

DCI further revealed that on Tuesday, the Auditor General and government leaders met for breakfast “to discuss the implementation mechanisms of parliamentary recommendations on the Auditor General’s report.”

According to the directorate, Salim stated during the meeting that DCI would be more focused on carrying out its duties within the criminal justice system, and at no point did he make any reference to DP Gachagua or any other government official.
