Mumias East legislator Peter Salasya has stated that he will not be enslaved to his political party as he serves in parliament.
The young lawmaker rose above barricades to win the seat on DAP-K party ticket in the August 9, 2022 general election.
Speaking in a live TV interview on Friday, Salasya said he will put on a veil of ignorance during House sessions.
“If a Bill beneficial to my people comes to the floor of the House, I will stand with it. I won’t care whether it’s sponsored by the opposition or government,” he stated.
Further, he pledged to revive the Sugar Bill 2019, sponsored by former Kanduyi MP Wafula Wamunyinyi.
Meanwhile, Salasya urged the youth to embrace creativity and innovativeness, as a way of rising above the prevailing tough economic times.
“Even as we try to create job opportunities, not all of us can be accommodated. Youths must be creative enough.” He said
