Vincent Koech, a police officer who is attached to Amukura police station in Busia County was yesterday arrested after losing his gun while on a drinking spree.

The officer in charge of the station’s armoury David Birech learnt that the rifle was missing and instructed Koech to return the G3 rifle.

The gun was loaded with 20 rounds of ammunition, which had been issued to him (Koech) on Saturday but he failed to give a clear explanation of the gun’s whereabouts.

The gun had been issued to him at 6pm when he realized that the firearm was missing.

“The constable could not give a satisfactory account of the whereabouts of the G3 rifle. The constable had been deployed on duty at the report office together with Caleb Achachi,” the report seen by Radio Halisi read in part.

At the point when Achachi was asked he said that the officer pardoned himself to proceed to take dinner but never returned.

He then, at that point, showed up at the station while looking drunk and when asked about the gun he never gave a legitimate clarification.

The Officer Commanding Station and other senior officials visited the scene and ordered to arrest the officer.
