Khaligraph laments how late Kantai was treated

Kenyan Hip Hop star Khaligraph Jones has moaned about the way pioneer musicians are being treated in Kenya.

While grieving the death of rapper Chris Kantai best known for his hit tune Huu Ni Nani, the Gwala hitmaker said that Kenyans must help individual comrades while they are as yet alive.

Jones regretted that media did not feature Kantai’s predicament enough as he squirmed out of liquor addiction.

“This is 3 years ago when I did a song with the Late Kris Kantai but instead of the media motivating during his comeback, they only talked about how miserable he was cause of alcoholism even after he was done with rehab and was fully reformed,” wrote Jones.

He stated that he knows of some artists who are battling depression at the moment and similarly need help.

“Let’s Stop waiting for our pioneers to die so that we can talk about how they are legends and inspired us while they were alive, I know some Artists who paved the way for us who are undergoing through depression right now, let’s help them now, Rest in Peace Kantai,” he posted.

Kantai was among the first rapping talents to put the hip-hop genre on top of the map.

Jones worked with the late artist in 2016 on Ting Badi Malo.

As per the family representative, Wanjiku Thuku, Kantai died the morning of February 27 at St. Francis Hospital in Kasarani.

He had reportedly been admitted at the facility for two days.
