Gor Mahia FC thrashed their eternal bitter rivals AFC Leopards 2-0 in Mashemeji derby at Kasarani Stadium on Saturday.
Kenneth Muguna and Francis Kahata carried the day for defending champions.
The victory was a morale booster for Gor ahead of Wednesday’s CAF Confederations Cup second Group D match away to Petro Atletco in Luanda, Angola.
However, it was a sad day to Ingwe who were looking to bag maximum points and improve their place on the standings and move away from the relegation zone.
It was also a second straight defeat for newly appointed head coach Cassa Mbungo who had suffered a 2-1 loss in his first match against Mt Kenya in a midweek clash.
Despite the loss, Mbungo remained optimistic saying that he believed in the quality of players and that he expects positive results in upcoming matches.
