Goals from Captain Kenneth Muguna, Charles Momanyi and Alpha Onyango were enough to earn Gor Mahia a 3-1 win over Mathare United in a league match yesterday, Thursday at Kasarani stadium.

Coming off a disappointing loss over the weekend, K’Ogalo were quick off the blocks with Momanyi heading in Clifton Miheso’s corner for the opener in the third minute before Captain Kenneth made sure Gor goes into the break with 2-0 lead.

Mathare pulled one back from the spot later in the second half but substitute Alpha Onyango made sure of the three points with a late goal.

Nicholas Kipkurui together with a Mathare player both got sent off in injury time after a physical incident.

It is their second win in the league this season and ensured that new coach Vaz Pinto begins his tenure with a win and he hopes for improvements in the next game.

“Yesterday we worked on set-pieces and today we scored in set-pieces and this is the kind of improvement I want for this team to grow but we need time I can’t do miracles and I can’t say everything is okay, no we need time to work on a number of things and I think the next game will be better than this,” coach Pinto said.
