Raila hints at a Kalonzo-Ruto 2027

Raila Odinga Criticizes President Ruto’s Meddling in Azimio’s Affairs While Expressing Support for Kalonzo

Opposition leader Raila Odinga recently took a jab at President William Ruto, accusing him of interfering with the internal matters of the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya coalition party. Odinga’s criticism came during a birthday celebration for Siaya senator Oburu Oginga in Bondo, Siaya County.

Odinga’s primary concern was Ruto’s alleged attempts to sow division within the coalition by speculating about Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka’s potential presidential candidacy in the 2027 general election. Ruto had indicated that he might only face off against Musyoka in the upcoming election.

Odinga firmly advised Ruto to refrain from belittling Kalonzo Musyoka and asserted that Azimio remains united. He emphasized that the decision regarding the coalition’s next presidential candidate will only be made at the appropriate time.

In his critique of Ruto, Odinga pointed out that comparing Musyoka to the President was unfair, as Musyoka’s qualities far surpass Ruto’s. He criticized Ruto for prematurely discussing the 2027 presidential race, considering that no official announcements have been made. Odinga pledged support for Kalonzo Musyoka, describing him as an honest individual.

Kalonzo Musyoka also cautioned President Ruto against discussing the 2027 general elections while unresolved issues from the 2022 elections still linger. He expressed confidence that whoever challenges Ruto in the next election will have a clear advantage, as Kenyans are increasingly dissatisfied with the current government under the Kenya Kwanza regime. Musyoka emphasized the lack of trust in the current administration and anticipated a smoother path for the opposition in the forthcoming election.
