Kalonzo now supports manual voting in 2027

Kalonzo Musyoka, the leader of the Wiper party, now wants the nation to return to the manual voting process.

Kalonzo stated in a statement on Thursday that he wants his vote and the votes of his grandchildren to count for something.

“Going forward I want to go to the old school. I want my vote and that of my children and grandchildren to stand for something. Where they can vote, go home and expect the right outcome to be announced,” Kalonzo told TV47.

The former vice president demanded that the legislative branch of government reconsider the issue of manual voting, claiming that even with the use of a digital voting system, the time it takes to finalize results is nearly identical.

“There was a lot of disagreement about this matter of electronic voting. We need to revisit this. The National Assembly and Senate need to revisit this. Let’s go back to manual voting because it took almost the same time to get presidential results.”

According to Kalonzo, no one in Kenya has reason to vote in future elections because they have lost faith in the country’s electoral system.
