West Sang’alo ward football heavyweights, Ranje FC will not feature in the NG-CDF Kanduyi 2021-22 finals. This is after they suffered a 1:0 shock defeat to archrivals Kitinda FC in the semi-finals on Monday.

Complacency among Ranje defenders saw them concede an early goal, with Kitinda FC surprisingly holding on till the final whistle.

The finals will be between Kitinda FC and Chemchem FC, who saw off a resilient Sofa Paka to a 2:0 victory to secure the spot.

Elsewhere, in Musikoma ward, Siloba FC clinched a 1:0 victory over Sio FC in the second semi-finals in Pool B, and they will play against Siritanyi FC who deservedly beat neighbors Sacred FC 5:1 in normal time.

In the build-up to the encounter, Sacred FC were billed to emerge victorious, and they nearly lived up to the bill when they took the lead in the opening minutes of the game. However, Siritanyi comfortably equalised. It became a one-sided affair, with goals coming in at will.

The annual tourney has brought together a total of 120 teams from the expansive Kanduyi Constituency. It is fully funded by NG-CDF Kanduyi under the patronship of area MP Wafula Wamunyinyi.

Nurture talents

“This tournament is aimed at nurturing talents, sharpening footballing skills and engaging the youth during this holiday.” Mr. Wamunyinyi said.

Each participating team is receiving uniforms and a ball upon elimination, and the finals will be played at ward levels.

“We request our MP to help us form a formidable team that will be representing our ward in the future constituency tournament.” Urged Maurinas Wafula, Tuuti-Marakaru ward sports coordinator.
