A man from Kilifi has been sentenced to 35 years in jail after he was found guilty of killing his wife after a domestic quarrel.

Riziki Karisa Yeri, 50, stabbed his wife Kadzo Charo Chenje several times after she neglected her duties at  their farm.

As indicated by their daughter Raeli Karisa, her dad wounded her mom in the chest and the stomach using a kitchen knife.

“I screamed and my other siblings came running to rescue my mother,” Ms Karisa said.

As per her testimony, her father attempted to put their mother on a seat after she tumbled down after the stabbing.

After the episode, Ms Karisa said her dad attempted to kill himself by turning the knife on self.

“I observed the accused assaulting the deceased by stabbing her in the stomach and legs. When he was done with inflicting physical harm on the deceased, he started cutting her body,” said the witness.

The investigative officer who dealt with the case said when he was informed regarding the issue, he sent a vehicle to pick both the man and his wife for treatment however the lady surrendered to the wounds.
