Kenya has recorded 960 new coronavirus cases pushing the nation’s complete caseload so far to 17,603.

In an announcement issued on Sunday, the Ministry of Health said the new infections were recorded after testing of 8,261 samples within the most recent 24 hours.

Out of the 960 new cases, Nairobi has the number with 510 new cases followed by Kajiado (102), Kiambu (100), Machakos (58), Mombasa (48), Busia (21), Garissa (17), Uasin Gishu (15), Kisumu (14), Nakuru (12) and Narok (10).

Other counties that have recorded new cases are Turkana (9), Bomet (8), Kericho (7), Laikipia (5), Murang’a (5), Makueni (5), Embu (3), Nyeri (2), Taita Taveta (2), Kakamega (2), Bungoma (2), Tana River (1), Trans Nzoia (1) and Kisii (1).

Of the new cases, 952 are Kenyans and eight of them foreign nationals from including British (2), Somalia (2), and Tanzania (1).

The new patients include 604 male while 356 are female. They are aged between 1 -88 years.

Two additional patients have lost their lives to the ailment, raising the number of fatalities recorded in the nation so far to 280.

At the same time, a total of 169 additional patients have likewise recovered from the infection, 83 of them being released from hospitals while 86 were under home-based care. This raises the total number of recoveries to 7,743.
