Kisii county assembly majority leader Timothy Ogutu has confirmed the death of Kiamokama ward MCA who passed on while being taken to Nairobi hospital for treatment on Sunday.

Mainya fell ill and was admitted at Oasis Specialist Hospital in Kisii on Thursday he was  later transferred  to Nairobi hospital for further treatment  on Sunday morning.

Kisii governor mourned him as a strong and loyal leader.

“Sad day for Kisii county following sudden death of MCA Hon. Ken Mainya who was a strong and loyal leader. Poleni sana,” said Ongeri.

Senator Sam Ongeri also mourned the deceased.

“We have lost a dedicated servant, an astude politician, a committed legislator and a development oriented leader, May his soul rest in eternal peace,” Ongeri added.

Mainya was elected to the county assembly of Kisii in 2013 through ODM party and retained the seat in 2017.
