Ex-CS Joseph Mucheru lands new job in UK

The immediate former Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru is the new president of Jumo – a multinational intelligent banking firm.

The firm is based in the United Kingdom.

This news came after the CS updated his professional LinkedIn profile, indicating he took the job in January 2023.

He will be working with Jumo’s operational hub in London, the United Kingdom.

Mucheru’s appointment came just over two months after members of the Uhuru Kenyatta cabinet handed over to the William Ruto cabinet after swearing in on October 27, 2022.

“Joseph Mucheru, is the current President of JUMO, a technology company building next-generation financial services for emerging market entrepreneurs,” reads the profile.

Further, it reads, “in this role, Joe supports the company to deliver its growth goals, navigate the regulatory landscape, and build the firm’s presence across the African continent.”

The company presents itself as a financial technology company that partners with banks, mobile network operators, and other e-commerce players to deliver progressive financial choices to customers in emerging markets across Africa and Asia.

It boasts itself as the bridge between entrepreneurs and capital by helping them create financial identities using their behavioural data.

Mucheru’s appointment comes after another Uhuru Kenyatta Cabinet Minister, Najib Balala, was appointed vice president of Fauna & Flora International (FFI).

Balala was appointed to the position in November 2022.
