DP Gachagua meets up with his high school principal

After nearly 45 years apart, vice president Rigathi Gachagua has reconnected with his high school principal.

The DP used the occasion to look back on his time as a student at Kianyaga High School and to express his gratitude to Mr. Julius Ndumbi, the headmaster, for being a mentor to him.

Gachagua said he was prepared to govern during his time in high school. He appreciated Mr. Ndumbi   for his guidance.

“A strict disciplinarian. Tough. Loving. Wise. A father figure, a role model,” he said.

Gachagua who was born on February 28, 1965, first attended Kabiruini Primary School from 1971 to 1977 before moving on to Kianyaga High School to complete his O and A levels.

Following that, he enrolled in the University of Nairobi, where in 1988 he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and literature.

Gachagua worked briefly at Kenya’s Ministry of Home Affairs and National Heritage upon graduation before enrolling at the Administration Police Institute in 1990.

Between 1991 and 1992, he served as a District Officer Cadet at the Office of the late President Daniel Arap Moi after receiving his degree from the Administration Police Institute.

Later, Gachagua worked as a district officer in the districts of Kakamega, Ng’arua, and Laikipia.
