Thomas Tuchel appointed as Chelsea new head coach

Chelsea has appointed former Paris Saint Germain head Coach Thomas Tuchel as the head coach on a two-and-a-half-year contract.

Tuchel takes over as the Chelsea manager after the Blues announced the departure of Frank Lampard on Monday. The west London club decided to part ways with Lampard following a string of poor results in the Premier League.

Thomas comes packed with experience having guided PSG to four major honors and the Champions League final during his time in the French capital.

“I would like to thank Chelsea FC for their confidence in me and my staff,” said Tuchel on his appointment.

“We all have the greatest respect for Frank Lampard’s work and the legacy he created at Chelsea. At the same time, I cannot wait to meet my new team and compete in the most exciting league in football. I am grateful to now be part of the Chelsea family – it feels amazing!”

Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia also said he is happy to secure of the best coaches in Europe in Tuchel.

“It is never easy to change Head Coach in the middle of the season but we are very happy to secure one of Europe’s best coaches in Thomas Tuchel.”

“There is still much to play for and much to achieve, this season and beyond. We welcome Thomas to the Club.”

Tuches who is 47 years Old will be the first German to manage Chelsea and l will take his first training session this evening. He will also be in the dugout today when his new club faces Wolves in the Premier League.
