Raila condemns Israel’s attacks

In a resolute stance against the Israeli government’s actions in Palestine, Raila Odinga, the leader of the ODM party, has raised his voice in condemnation. Odinga delivered this strong message during his appearance at the inaugural Mombasa Luo Cultural Festival, which took place at the Mkomani ASK grounds in Mombasa.

Expressing deep concern, Odinga highlighted the tragic loss of innocent lives, with a significant focus on women and children, as a result of the Israeli bombings in Palestine since the invasion began. He emphasized the need to strongly denounce the brutality and violence inflicted upon the Palestinian population, drawing attention to the inhumanity, primitiveness, and brutality of the situation.

Calling upon Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Odinga urged immediate action to stop the violence and killing of innocent Palestinian civilians. In addition to his condemnation of Israel’s actions, Odinga directed a message to President William Ruto, urging him not to remain silent and to stand in support of the oppressed Palestinian people.

President Ruto had previously released a statement on October 9, expressing Kenya’s solidarity with Israel, condemning terrorism, and denouncing attacks on innocent civilians. He also called upon the international community to take action against those responsible for these criminal acts of terrorism, including their organizers, financiers, sponsors, supporters, and enablers, emphasizing the need for justice.

The situation remains deeply troubling as civilians continue to be intentionally targeted in this ongoing conflict, resulting in a rising number of casualties. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, on a separate note, has declared that there will be no temporary ceasefire with Hamas in Gaza until all Israeli hostages are released.

Tragically, the Israeli airstrikes have resulted in the loss of over 9,000 lives. The Israeli government initiated these attacks on Gaza in response to the October 7 attacks in southern Israel, which led to the tragic death of about 1,400 people and the capture of more than 200 individuals.
