Monarch Concludes Kenyan State Visit

A royal chapter of diplomacy came to an end as the King and Queen wrapped up their five-day tour of Kenya, marking their inaugural visit to a Commonwealth nation since the commencement of the current reign.

In a momentous farewell, President William Ruto extended his best wishes to the departing royal figures.

The Royal Family, in a statement shared on their official platform, expressed gratitude to the gracious reception they received during their visit to Nairobi and Mombasa, signifying the significance of this diplomatic mission.

The royal duo carried out several activities during their final day in Kenya. King Charles paid a visit to the historic Mandhry Mosque in Mombasa, a landmark of faith and community, to immerse himself in their efforts to foster unity among different religious and age groups. He also engaged in discussions with interfaith coastal clergy at the venerable ACK Memorial Cathedral, exploring ways in which faith leaders can contribute to peace, tolerance, and harmonious community coexistence. To commemorate this visit, a plaque was unveiled.

Meanwhile, Queen Camilla met with survivors of sexual and gender-based violence, endeavoring to understand the support systems in place and sharing her own experiences in the field.

This closing chapter came after a bustling day for the Royals, as King Charles visited the Kuruwitu Marine Conservancy, which has not only revitalized coral reefs but also enhanced the local community’s well-being. These efforts contribute significantly to climate change mitigation and the preservation of our environment for generations to come. The King actively participated in a cleanup initiative at Nyali Beach, addressing the issue of plastic pollution and engaging in discussions with young Kenyan climate activists.

This remarkable state visit has strengthened diplomatic ties and showcased the royal commitment to global issues, as Kenya and the United Kingdom continue their long-standing partnership in the Commonwealth.
