Jacob ‘Ghost Mulee is a new Harambee Stars coach after replacing Francis Kimanzi who was sacked on Tuesday and left the team by mutual consent.

Mulee returns to the National team after previous stints at the helm, including in 2004 when he took Kenya to the AFCON finals in Tunisia.

Mulee was handed over on Wednesday morning by FKF president Nick Mwendwa at the Safari Park Hotel, Nairobi after signing a three year deal.

“I thank the federation for having faith in me to steer the team to seal a place in next forthcoming AFCON and World cup. I have been monitoring the perfomance of the team for a while and i am pleased with the quality which we have,” Mulee said.

Mulee’s first test will be next month double header against Comoros which are part of Kenya’s qualifying campaign for the 2022 AFCON.

“I watched them play Zambia and i was convinced we have massive chances to beat Comoros next month.”

The appointment brought some reactions amongst various Kenyans whereby some welcomed the move while others opine that Mulee’s best days are past him

Sports Journalist Collins Okinyo said on twitter that Kenyans ought to be serious in selection of coaches.

“Jacob ‘Ghost’ Mulee  was a good coach but i think has been out of mainstreaming active coaching for a long time hope he still has the passion to drive Harambee Stars forward. Kenya needs seriousness if we want to be successful that is without any prejudice.” Stated Okinyo.

Arap Prugut said that Harambee stars will move on when they choose younger minds with better progressive ideas.

“How many times have Ghost coached Harambee stars? The moment we stop recycling this clueless being, actually by FKF is the time kenyan football will prosper. Useless, look for young minds with better progressive ideas!,” commented Prugut.

Ghost has been working as a presenter in Radio Jambo in morning show, “Patanisho” with co-host Gidi.
