The damaged body of a commercial sex worker situated in Nairobi was on Thursday, May 23, found at Kenyatta National Hospital mortuary after she was reported missing on Friday, May 17.

According to her associates, Elizabeth Njoki, 22, had profound cuts on her body, marks of strangulation and her body swollen.

As detailed by Njoki’s friend, Carol Maina, the deceased was picked by a customer at Nairobi’s Hurlingham area at 5 am and driven off in the customer’s vehicle.

Tragically, that was the last time they were seeing her alive.

“Njoki, being a very talkative person, got us all worried when we did not hear from her for two days. We immediately suspected something wrong had happened to her,” said Maina.

“We first went to her house in Satellite but did not find her. Then we lodged a report at Kilimani Police Station, before proceeding to several mortuaries, only to find her body at the KNH mortuary on Thursday,” she added.

The death of Njoki has prompted a group of women from Nairobi’s Satellite area to demand justice lamenting that many girls have been murdered in the course of their work.
