Online plartform X (formely Twitter) could soon introduce a monthly fee to all its users in an effort to cut down on bots. This is according to Elon Musk (the owner), who said this on monday while speaking to Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in a conversation that was broadcasted on X.

He said this in response to a question raised by Prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu on how X could prevent the use of bots. Bots are accounts run by computer programs rather than humans. Bots are popular on X where they are used to spread political propaganda.

This will be one of the multiple changes undertaken by Elon Musk since taking over the site in October last year . Some of the other rather unpopular changes include, reinstating of formerly banned accounts  including  that of former president and current presidential aspirant Donald Trump, firing of thousands of the then twitter employees, cutting on content moderation and introducing a paid premium option.
