Politicians vow to kick out FKF President Nick Mwendwa

Over the weekend, a section of politicians vowed to oust the President of Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Nick Mwendwa. This is after the FKF fined the football clubs of Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards a total of Sh10 million and docked them three points each after they failed to honour their league match two weeks ago. The two clubs were demanding the prize money for the Betway Cup.

At the same time, FKF has also suspended Gor’s chairman Ambrose Rachier together with his Leopard’s counterpart Dan Shikanda, a move that the latter have already challenged in the Sports Dispute Tribunal.

Senator for Siaya James Orengo and the former assistant minister Peter Kenneth have banged Mwendwa for his move of killing the dreams of the two clubs which has the largest following in the country.

Speaking in a burial of Rachier’s brother in Sagam village, Gem Constituency, Siaya County over the weekend, Orengo advised the two clubs not to pay the fines assuring them that the issue is now in their hands.

“How do you even fine Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards. Fining Gor which is a mass movement is like trying to fine the government. Where were you born to try fining the government?” Orengo asked.

The self-proclaimed K’Ogalo number one fan Jaro Soja also chanted that Mwendwa must leave the office.

Calls for Mwendwa to leave office continue to take another direction accross the country with demonstrations having been held in Nairobi, Kisumu, Kakamega and Kitale last week.
