Ezra Chiloba Resigns as CA Director General

The Communications Authority (CA) of Kenya is facing a leadership shakeup as its Director General, Ezra Chiloba, has tendered his resignation amidst allegations of gross misconduct. In an official statement, the authority announced that Chiloba submitted his resignation to Mary Mungai, the chairperson of the CA board, on Wednesday, October 18, 2023.

The departure of Chiloba, who previously served as the CEO of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), marks the end of a two-year tenure that began in 2021. Originally appointed for a renewable four-year term, his resignation comes weeks after he was suspended due to accusations of misuse of office and misconduct.

Mary Mungai, in her official statement, acknowledged Ezra Chiloba’s contributions to the organization and the broader ICT sector. She expressed her best wishes for his future endeavors, saying, “On behalf of the authority, I wish the outgoing Director General success in his future endeavors and appreciate his invaluable contribution to the organization and the wider ICT sector.”
