The body of one man was on Christmas day discovered in Kitale’s National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) silo.

The body had decomposed badly when it was discovered.

A watchman was alerted by the foul smell that emanated from one of the silos and that is when he discovered the body and notified the police.

The process of body retrieval took the police some time from the underground waterlogged facility of storage.

Jackson Mwenga, the Kitale OCPD said that investigations are underway to ascertain the cause of the man’s death.

“We don’t know under what circumstances the man died. We don’t know whether he was killed and the body dumped there or he committed suicide.

“Forensic investigations will be conducted to establish what could have happened,” Mwenga told The Standard.

One of the man who stays nearby said that the NCPB silos have heavy covers which are not easily broken to enter hence the man most likely didn’t commit suicide.
