All eyes on DP Ruto as Jubilee withdraws from upcoming By-Elections

Jubilee party through its secretary general Raphael Tuju has announced that it will not be fielding candidates in the constituencies that fell vacant after the death of their leaders.

With Tuju’s announcement, this means Jubilee has withdrawn from Machakos Senatorial seat, Matungu and Kabuchai Parliamentary seats.

Tuju went ahead to reveal that the decision was arrived at due to the recent period of constructive engagement with other parties in the spirit of BBI.

“We are currently enjoying a period of constructive engagement with the Wiper Party, ODM, ANC and other parties especially in the BBI,” said Tuju.

The party will however be observing the situation in the Nairobi Gubernatorial bid and in accordance to the decision of the court will be fielding a candidate.

While making the announcement, Tuju unveiled candidates for three ward by-elections.

They are Virginia Wamaitha for Hells Gate ward in Nakuru, Francis Njoroge for London ward and Lucy Ngendo for Huruma ward in Uasin Gishu.

Jubilee’s decision of not fielding candidates in the three by elections have put DP William Ruto in a spot light as many speculate that he might pull the same moves he pulled in Msambweni.

While Jubilee had announced that it would not be fielding a candidate in Msambweni, DP William went against the party and supported an independent candidate. The move worked on his favor as Feisal Bader, his preferred candidate ended up winning the seat and defeating ODM’s Omar Boga.

Only time will tell of what the DP has up his sleeves.
