Update: DPP Noordin Haji lands new job

The Director of Public Prosecutions, DPP Noordin Haji has landed a new job.

Haji was elected to represent Africa and the Indian Ocean Region at the International Association of Prosecutors (IAP).

As a member of the Executive Committee, the DPP will be able to advance innovative strategies to tackle Transnational Organized Crime (TOC) and enhance regional and International Cooperation and Collaboration in the Prosecution of Transnational Organized Crime.

This was announced during the 27th IAP  Annual Conference and general meeting which took place in Tbilisi, Georgia.

The DPP expressed his gratitude for the appointment, pledging to strengthen international cooperation in the prosecution of TOC.

“The election of the DPP and the awarding of the office is an acknowledgement of the important place that Kenya occupies in the international criminal justice arena,” he said.

While at the event, Haji also received a certificate of merit for housing the 4th Africa and Indian Ocean region and the East Africa Association of Prosecutors (EAAP) conference in Mombasa which took place early this year.

Last year in December, Haji was named Jurist of the year by the International Commission of Jurists of Kenya (ICJ).

His election and the awarding of the office is an acknowledgement of the important place that Kenya occupies in the international criminal justice arena.
