President Uhuru Kenyatta on Thursday elicited cheers and laughter in Kisumu County, after saying that he will seek his wife’s consent in getting a “Kisumu-based helper”.

The president was accompanied by his handshake partner and ODM leader Raila Odinga and a host of local leaders, whereby they drummed up support for the newly released Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report.

Earlier on Thursday, President Kenyatta laid the foundation for the construction of an international-standard’s Sports Complex at the Kisumu showgrounds.

He said the Complex will be opened April 2021, adding “its grand opening will culminate in an epic football match” between Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards

Afterwards, he made a stop over in Kisumu town where he urged residents to support BBI, which he said will foster national unity.

“What is the problem with allowing HELB loanees to pay loans only when they get jobs? What is the problem with achieving the two-third gender rule? Is it wrong to give our young people loans to start their own businesses?” He posed.

The BBI report will be launched on Monday 26, 2020 at the Bomas of Kenya, Naiorbi.
