UDA Leaders: What’s so special about Matiang’i?

The decision by the police unit to raid the residence of former Interior Cabinet secretary Fred Matiang’i has been supported by leaders affiliated with the Kenya Kwanza Alliance.

The leaders claimed that because the former CS was no different from other Kenyans in any way, it was legal for the police to search his residence and, if necessary, take him into custody.

Samson Cherargei, a senator from Nandi, claimed that whatever the police were doing followed the same script that Matiang’i had used under former President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Cherargei revealed how, in defiance of previous court orders, Matiang’i allegedly ordered his detention at night.

“Matiangi used to order my arrest at night on 21/4/22 and was detained at Capitol Hill police station at 6 pm and later Gigiri police station up to the following Monday despite court orders to the contrary. What’s so special about him? Bado safari ni mbali alambe glucose,” Cherargei posted on his Twitter account.

Gideon Keter, a member of the United Democratic Alliance, agreed with the senator from Nandi that what was occurring to Matiang’i was not unusual.

“I remember the day Fred Matiangi was arresting senators at night, how he was so wrong to arrest Miguna Miguna at night the list goes on and on… Wembe ni ule ule,” Keter said.
