The United Democratic Alliance (U.D.A) party has officially launched member registration in Bungoma county.

The exercise was launched at a resort in Bungoma town, led by the party’s Bungoma county coordinator, Eng. Mike Malomba.

“From here, our subcounty and ward coordinators are going to officially start the process at the grassroots. They are ready and well equipped.” Eng. Malomba declared.

He added, “Our target is 300,000 members in the county. It’s a tough task, but I know our team is equal to the task.”

Online process

He said the process will be conducted online via a link, and members will be required to upload photos of their national Identity cards, as well as deregistering from other political parties.

“We have those [Kenyans] who have never registered with other political parties, but you never know whether you were fraudulently registered. So we want to cover ourselves [against legal battles with other political outfits].”

UDA Bungoma county acting chairman, Moses Juma Sikuta, urged residents to turn up in large numbers for registration.

“I want them to own the party. We want UDA to be the grassroot party.”

Bottom to top approach

On her part, Bungoma county gubernatorial hopeful Sophie Nekoye, encouraged women to join the party.

“My fellow women, kindly let us come out and join this party…. looking at its leadership structure right from bottom to top, the party embraces women.” She said.

However, non of the UDA allied Mps from the county attended the launch, but instead opted to send representatives.
