Three die in road accident near Delamere ranch

Three people have died after a Nissan matatu Shuttle, belonging to NNUS Sacco, and a tour van impacted head-on near Delamere ranch in Naivasha along the Nakuru-Nairobi expressway.

Two passengers died on the spot while another one passed on while undergoing treatment at the nearby Naivasha sub-county hospital.

The matatu was moving towards Nakuru while the tour van having a place with tours and travel organization was moving the opposite direction.

15 people who were injured were rushed to the same Naivasha Sub-County Hospital. Six of them were in critical condition.

As per witness Samson Ngigi, the matatu driver chose to overtake an armada of vehicles before slamming into the minibus.

“The driver of the matatu and another passenger died on the spot while scores of others mainly those in the matatu were seriously injured,” he said.

Naivasha police commander, Samuel Waweru, affirmed the incident, saying that the bodies had been taken to the local funeral home.

He linked the accident to imprudent overtaking.

“We have lost three men in the accidents and over ten others have been seriously injured and are undergoing treatment,” he said.
