Stop politicising Uhuru’s Western visit, ODM warns

ANC vs ODMODM leaders in a past event.

The Orange Democtatic Movement (ODM) has cautioned a section of politicians from the Western region against politicising President Uhuru Kenyatta’s anticipated tour on the region this coming weekend.

While speaking at Kakamega yesterday, ODM leaders among them being Shinyalu MP Justus Kizito put on a notice to some Amani National Congress (ANC) and Ford-Kenya leaders who opposed the idea of its party leader Raila Odinga to accompany the president on his tour emphasizing that the handshake brought Kenyans together and therefore Odinga must be part of the Head of States entourage.

“It’s saddening to note that a few individuals in ANC and Ford-Kenya, who are in fact the minority, want to politicise the President’s visit in guise of stopping Raila from accompanying the former. Those bickering are minute groups of leaders who are less popular,” said MP Kizito.

Kizito further added that Raila is the Western region’s political kingpin and no one can stop him from visiting the region summoning those ANC MPs that are planning to heckle some leaders during the visit will face the law.

During his three-day development trip, the president will inspect and launch major projects.

The Sh5 billion tax debt owed by Mumias Sugar Company is expected to be featured in.  There is also the planned construction of the Sh100 million Kakamega Gold Refinery in Ikolomani Constituency, and the Sh6 billion upgrade of the Kakamega Teaching and Referral Hospital.

The president is also expected to steer the construction of Matulo Airstrip in Webuye, Chwele Open Air Market, Kanduyi Stadium and Nzoia Sugar Factory alongside awarding a charter to Kaimosi University College.
