Mt. Elgon sub county director for Education, Donald Etyang’ has warned school heads against allowing politicians in the institutions’ administration.
He said this during the stake holders meeting held at Kibuk girls.
Mr. Etyang’ says that many public schools are on the verge of collapsing due to involvement of politicians in the administration.
At the same time, he advised schools to prudently use available resources in developing various infrastructures.
”Teachers are responsible for the development of institutions and therefore, they should utilize the available resources for development.”
Speaking at the event, Kaptama ward MCA Francis Chemioni warned school heads against misuse of resources allocated for development.
“Teachers account for funds received from the government… school heads should utilize the available resources wisely to develop infrastructures in the institutions,” Chemioni cautioned.
However he reminded the stakeholders that the rapport between the school and the surrounding community is vital for it’s growth.
Concerning the Coronavirus situation in the county, Chemion confirmed the closure of Bungoma County Assembly due to the rise in infection cases among members of the assembly.
“Coronavirus infection cases have spread in the county from prison inmates. So I urge the school heads to protect the life of our learners,” he added.
In attendance was Assistant County Commissioner Mr. Lamek Edward who advised parents to protect their children against harmful online content.
”It’s our responsibility to ensure that our children are safe from online contents such a pornographic materials. We must also ensure that our learners get conducive environment for their studies.”
He also advised the schools to put in place Coronavirus containment measures such as provision of masks and sanitizers.
Mr. Lamek further warned school heads against accommodating political affairs in the school management, advising for the organization of similar meetings in order to address such issues.
