Shifting gears? Sonko to attend Ruto’s rally

A section of Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko Mbuvi’s supporters have on Wednesday 14th October questioned if the governor is shifting gears from President Uhuru’s side to DP William Ruto’s side after a response he gave when he was invited to Ruto’s Nyamira rally.

Taking to his twitter account, Sonko revealed that he will be attending a rally by DP Ruto which will be in Nyamira after he was invited by MPs Vincent Mogaka, Joash Nyamoko and Shadrack Mose to a fundraiser at Silonga Girls High School for bodaboda operators in Nyamira and another for 10 SDA churches in Miriri District.

“Today a delegation of MP’s from Nyamira County paid me a courtesy call at my upperhill office. The MP’s Hon. Vincent Mogaka, Hon. Joash Nyamoko & Hon. Shadrack Mose officially invited me to two fundraising functions”, Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko.

Sonko responded to the invite by revealing that he will be attending the fundraiser noting that he would not use choppers to fly to the functions and neither would he use his official cars.

“I invite you to join Deputy President William Ruto and other leaders for the said function and thereafter proceed to Miriri in Kitutu Masaba Constituency to fundraise for Seventh Day Adventist Church,” Sonko’s invite read.

The governor further took the opportunity to thank Police IG Hillary Mutyambai for the clearance to hold the events under the National Security Advisory Committee regulations.

“My compliments to the Inspector General of police Mr. Hillary Mutyambai for allowing the function to take place, this is now what we call true democracy.”

Regarding the gear shifting the governor cautioned that people should not politicize the empowerment of youth and women.

His supporter’s concerns arose after it has been noted that the relationship between the President and the governor has been falling out especially after the transfer of major Nairobi Functions to the National Government.
