Education Principal Secretary Belio Kipsang has said arrangements have been made to transport students sitting the Kenya Certificate of Secondary School Education (KCSE) examinations who may be stranded as a result of the ongoing crackdown targeting Public Service Vehicles.
Kipsang spoke on Monday in Kisauni, Mombasa, pointing out that school buses will be on standby to transport students to their respective centres
The move is aimed at making sure that the examinations in progress are not affected by the transportation crisis currently being witnessed countrywide.
“We are aware this morning that our colleagues in Interior are coming out to streamline the transport sector and we are aware it might affect our students in one way or another. As a result, we directed that all school buses be available so that where students require such transport, then they can be dropped in school,” he stated.
In the meantime, the Ministry of Transport has issued a directive to the Kenya Railways Corporation to increase the number and frequency of commuter trains on all routes, and fares should be reduced by 10% until normal public transport services resume.
