President Kenyatta’s cousins dragged into Cohen’s murder case

Plane crash

A number of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s relatives have been mentioned in the ongoing case involving the murder of Dutch tycoon Tob Cohen.

The president’s cousins Ngegi Muigai and Captain Muigai Kungu, alongside that of Ngegi’s wife Wangui Ngegi have been dragged into the case by main suspect Sarah Wairimu.

She wants the call and SMS details of the three between July 1 and September 30, only days after she demanded the same from Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) George Kinoti.

However, she has not indicated why she needs the details of Uhuru’s kin, though, in Kinoti’s case, she claims that the chief detective is applying the law selectively in a bid to pin her.

In a letter authored by her lawyer Philip Murgor and stamped at the court registry on October 11, she wants such from a total of 23 persons, including witnesses lined up for the case.

“The DPP has so far not provided any mobile phone data as evidence to be called but selectively provided the data that appears convenient to implicate our client, at times withholding the data that may not be convenient to the DCI’s much-publicised theory,” reads the letter in part.

Wairimu and her co-accused Peter Karanja are out on bond after being charged with the murder of Cohen, who until the time of his death, was her husband.
