President Kenyatta leads nation in mourning former Kwale Woman Rep Zainab Chidzuga

President Uhuru Kenyatta has led other leaders in sending a message of condolence to the family, friends and relatives of former Kwale Woman representative Zainab Kalekye Chidzuga, who passed away on Thursday afternoon at Reliance Hospital in South C, Nairobi County.

Her daughter, television journalist Mwanaisha Chidzuga said the politician succumbed to Covid-19 related complications

In his message of comfort, the President eulogised Hon Chidzuga as a steadfast leader and astute grassroots mobilizer who helped uplift the welfare of women in Kwale County and across the country through her many initiatives.

“I have received the sad news of the passing away of Hon Zainab Chidzuga with a heavy heart. The ugly hand of death has robbed our country of a highly influential grassroots mobiliser and leader who was a role model to many women,” the President eulogised.

The President wished the family of the departed leader God’s strength and comfort as they mourn their departed matriarch.

The Deputy president Dr William Ruto also eulogised her on his twitter account as a progressive and dedicated leader, praying to God to grant strength and comfort the family, relatives and the people of Kwale County during this time of grief

“We have lost a selfless and visionary leader who served the people of Kwale with dedication. Heshimu Zainab Chidzuga was progressive, steadfast and focused. We will remember her as a champion of women empowerment. Rest in peace,” the DP posted.

Chidzuga was an ardent supporter of the Jubilee administration and a former long serving official of Maendeleo Ya Wanawake Organization (MYWO).
