Premier League football clubs have settled for a principle to introduce video assistant referees (VAR) from the start of next season.

Premier league had not introduced VAR instead they were using the 5th officials. Major leagues in the world are already using VAR. This allows unclear cases during a match to be reviewed with the use of video replays.

FIFA was the first to approve the technology. It was also used at the World Cup in Russia this year.

The EPL had put the technology on test pending approval from Football Association. VAR trials have been in use in the FA Cup and League Cup.

“The League will now officially make a request to the International Football Association Board and (world body) FIFA to use VAR next season,” the Premier League said in a statement to International Media organizations.

EPL has been using goal line technology since 2013. The technology that was rejected by Spain and France.
