Police nab bhang worth Ksh 1 million in Embu

Police on Thursday seized bhang valued at Ksh.1 million in a vehicle in Embu town.

Eastern Regional Administration Police Commander Joseph Chepkeitany says they received a tip off from members of the public regarding the car that was dispensing bhang to various peddlers in the town.

“Police rushed to the scene but upon approaching the said vehicle, the suspected bhang peddler spotted the officers and run-away on foot leaving behind the car.” Police Commander told a local press.

Police officers confiscated 50 stones of bhang with a street value of Ksh.1 million. A list of the peddlers that were being supplied with the drug, a weighing machine and 5,100 Hard cash.

The police boss said the vehicle was taken to Embu Police Station as a hunt for the suspect continued.

“The DCI will investigate the list of suppliers which was recovered inside the vehicle so as to establish those involved in the business of distributing and selling bhang in the county,” said Chepkeitany.

The police boss added that they have strengthened a crackdown on drug peddlers noting that Embu is one of the towns in which the drug business has thrived.
