Police arrest 5 terror suspects carrying out surveillance of pub in Nairobi

Five terror suspects have been arrested while carrying out surveillance of Whisky River, a popular club situated along Kiambu Road, Nairobi.

They were identified as Mohamed Abas Mohamud, a USA citizen, Mohamed Hassan Bario, a Somalia national and Mohamed Adan a Kenyan driver.

The others are Hodan Abdi Ismail and Ifrah Mohammed Abshir who are female Somalia nationals.

They were all handed to the Anti-Terrorism Police Unit.

Police said they recovered a Kenyan Airforce trouser, a jungle green t-shirt and hat, cheques and a laptop from them.

Also recovered were a US Passport, one US embassy security card and money in various currencies among them the Kenyan shilling, US dollar and Somalian Shilling.

Police have lately intensified a crackdown on terrorists, following reports that they were planning to hit strategic establishments.

Last week, President Uhuru Kenyatta ordered security forces to dismantle terror cells across the country.
