Owners of private vehicle in Nairobi County will now be paying Ksh200 parking charges from the current Sh300 as stipulated in the County Finance Bill passed by Nairobi County Assembly on Tuesday.

The Nairobi County Budget Chairman Robert Mbatia said the move will improve compliance and an increment in revenue collection since it is moderate to all.

“We believe this will reduce corruption in the sector because people preferred bribing between Sh100 or Sh150 instead of paying the required fee but now when you consider you are only paying Sh200 and if you don’t pay you risk being clamped, you just opt to pay the fee,” said Mbatia.

There has been a general decrease of in parking and dropping every day expenses likewise for Pickup, Canter, Lorry and Trailer.

Pickups will pay Sh200 every day for picking and offloading while canter will be charged Sh300 from the proposed Sh2000.

Lorry will pay Sh500 every day from the proposed Sh4000 while a Trailer will be charged Sh1000 from the proposed Sh6000.

Additionally, motorbike will be charged Sh500 instead of the proposed Sh1000 every month.

Tuk-tuk operators will be charged Sh1000 rather than the prior proposition of Sh1500.

Small casual sector merchants or service providers, such as shoe shiners and street vendors will just need to pay Sh2,500 yearly.

Those utilizing City Park for religious purposes won’t need to pay anything.
