Opposition must leave President Kenyatta’s name out of their illegal gold businesses – DP Ruto

Deputy President William Ruto has said the Opposition must leave President Uhuru Kenyatta’s name out of what he calls ‘their unlawful gold business’.

The DP spoke on Saturday in Trans Nzoia during his tour of Endebess and Saboti constituencies, pointing out that those individuals who were political conmen turned business conmen should carry their cross alone.

“I tell our brothers in the Opposition not to import their bad habits to Jubilee; they should shun engaging in dirty deals, corruption and coning others,” he added.

Leaders who had accompanied him echoed the DP’s remarks saying opposition leader Raila Odinga should clearly state what he knows about the fake gold saga.

Among the leaders who accompanied him included Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu, Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa, MPs Robert Pukose (Endebess), Owen Baya (Kilifi North) among others.

Some of the leaders roped in Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i saying he should also explain how the country’s security was protecting the premises with fake gold.

Jumwa insisted that the Interior CS should step aside over the scandal.

“How can you use General Service Unit to safeguard the home of those involved in the criminal activity?”

“If he (Matiangi) would purport to tell the Committee that he does not know what the security details were doing at that home, the he does not deserve to be in-charge of the internal security docket,” Jumwa said.

On their part, said Kenya’s safety and capacity to to business globally is undermined when those responsible for security are involved in scandals.

As indicated by them, government leaders can’t call for investigations yet there are claims that they are involved in same saga.
