Njugush, Otile Brown among the most watched YouTube videos of 2018

The video-sharing website YouTube, has released its list of some of the videos that have pulled in the most views across the year.

YouTube is the second largest search engine in the world after Google.

The website has released the list amid the launch of YouTube Rewind; the annual review of videos produced, created, and uploaded on YouTube.

“This year’s Top Trending Videos are a testament to the adeptness of Kenyan YouTubers in creating content that entertains, informs and inspires their audiences,” says Dorothy Ooko, Africa’s Head of Communications & Public Affairs at Google.

The Nigerian comic, Mark Angel Comedy, topped the list with his Who Died? webisode, in the Trending Non-Music Videos. A video of a bride and her bridesmaids dancing down the aisle and Ame Nduthika video blog by prominent comedian Njugush came in 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.

The video of Miguna Miguna’s sensational and dubious deportation at JKIA was 4th while previous Citizen TV news presenter Kanze Dena’s passionate goodbye in the wake of being appointed State House Spokesperson was 5th.

At the 6th position was Portugal Vs Spain match during the FIFA World Cup 2018. Former US President Barack Obama’s hit the dance floor with his grandma in Kogelo was 7th.

In the Trending Music Videos, the Kenyans surrendered the top position to Tanzanian hotshots Diamond and Harmonize.

Kwangwaru, by Harmonize featuring Diamond was Kenyans’ most watched music video followed by Short and Sweet by Sauti Sol featuring Nyashinski.

Otile Brown and Sanaipei Tande’s Chaguo La Moyo and Nyashinski’s Bebi Bebi came at the 3rd and 4th positions respectively.

The questionable however uber hit Lamba Lolo by Ethic took the 5th spot.

Kylie Jenner had the most watched video globally in the Non-music list while the top trending music video was Te Bote Remix by Casper, Nio García, Darell, Nicky Jam, Bad Bunny, Ozuna.
