Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari has been re-chosen for a second four-year term.
The 76-year-old crushed his principle rival, ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar, with an edge of just under four million votes.
Abubakar’s People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has rejected the outcome,however no independent observer has cited electoral irregularities.
Buhari ‘s All Progressives Congress (APC) won in 19 of the 36 states while the PDP was triumphant in 17 states and in the capital, Abuja, as indicated by the electoral commission (Inec).
Turnout was simply beneath 35% of registered voters. The commission will make a formal statement on Wednesday.
