Nairobi man strangles wife for arriving home late

A cab driver from Nairobi’s Kasarani area has been accused of killing his wife and plunging her mobile phone in water after she purportedly showed up after the expected time.

Lydia Muthoni was allegedly assaulted by her husband Joseph Ndung’u on November 26 at their home in Hunters in Kasarani Sub-County.

He was additionally accused of the offense of malicious damage of a cell phone valued at Sh13,000.

According to police, Muthoni had left their kid being taken care of by her husband to go to a wedding, however outstayed and got back home at 10pm.

A furious Kariuki is said to have gotten Muthoni’s telephone, crushed it before dumping it in a drum brimming with water. The court heard that he at that point grabbed her by the neck and injured her.

Kariuki denied the charges and was discharged on a cash bail of Sh10,000. The case will be heard on April 2, 2020.
