Mother of 4 gives birth to 5 other babies

Namukhula

A woman from Western Kenya has given birth to quintuples at Kakamega County Referral Hospital.

Everlyne Namukhula, 28, a resident at Sisokhe village in Navakholo sub-county, beared three girls and two boys through Cesarean Section.

Before the five, Namukhula was already a mother of four children, two of whom are twins.

“I am happy and I thank God for blessing me with five children at once. We have many people who would want to have children, but they are unable to get due to health challenges,” Ms Namukhula said.

When she went for an ultrasound specialists discovered she was carrying three babies, but when she went into delivery she gave birth to five newborns.

Namukhula’s husband, Herbert Nabwire said he never expected his wife to deliver five babies at once but termed it as a gift from God.

“We now have nine children and I treat all of them as a blessing from God. My wish is for the county government to enroll the mother and the children in programmes that will help cater for their nutritional needs since I have hearing challenges and I do not have a stable job,” he said.

The babies weighed between 1.2kg and 1.6kg and they have been put in the incubator.
