Three 16-year- old sisters who are expected to sit for their KCPE exams in March next year from Tana River county, have each delivered a set of twins at Garissa Hospital after going through caesarean section.

The three sisters were impregnated by a gardener who worked in their home, and according to them the gardener used to lure them into the family farm where he would defile them. One of the sisters added that she would sneak to his room at night.

“I did not know he was having an affair with my sisters as well because we didn’t share that part of our lives with each other, as we did not trust each others with secrets,” one of the girls stated.

They also disclosed that the man used to give them money and clothes.

“The operation was carried under a private hospital since doctors from Kilifi and Malindi hospitals had disapproved the surgical operation because the chances of the girls to survive depended on sacrificing an infant which the mother refused.“

I refused to let it happen. It was a sacrifice, and though scientifically logical, it was traditionally tragic,” she said.

However, the first born of the three, who was carrying Triplets, had no option but to sacrifice one infant on the doctor’s advice as it posed danger to her.

“They all had slim chances of survival and that is why we looked for specialist. But for the girl with the triplets to come out alive, we had to agree with the mother to choose between her daughter and the third infant,” stated the doctor.

According to their mother, she never noticed anything amiss with her daughters only that she noticed new garments from the last born daughter who claimed to have bought with her pocket money.

“I noticed some funny set of underwear which caught my attention. But my last born daughter kept saying she had bought them with her pocket money, “ explained the mother.

Two days later, the mother discovered one of the daughters was pregnant after she accidentally bumped on her phone informing the gardener she was three weeks pregnant and they were planning to have an abortion, then she decided to ambush them the following morning for a pregnancy test which tested positive.

Police have launched manhunt for the man who fled after the girls told him that they were pregnant.
