The Kericho man who grabbed headlines and people’s attention after he was presumed dead and taken to the mortuary at Kapkatet Hospital for three hours has died.

Confirming his death, one of the family members said that Peter Kigen who has been suffering from chronic disease died on Thursday at Kericho County Hospital after being transferred to the health facility from Kapkatet Hospital.

In an earlier bizarre incident, Kigen’s news shocked the world when he was presumed dead and was transferred to mortuary, but an hour later a 32-year-old man screamed loudly from the mortuary after he regained conscious.

One of the attendants is reported to have been preparing the ‘ body’ when he patient started screaming.

His death comes a day after members of the Kericho county assembly rejected a report by a committee recommending the demotion of Dr. Cheruiyot over the incident.

His body is lying at Kericho County Mortuary.
