Man hangs himself near his brother-in-law’s house after quarrel with wife

ENDED IT ALL

A man at Anin village in Keiyo North hanged himself on a tree near his brother-in-law’s house.

Daniel Chesang is said to have gone to his in-laws’ home on Tuesday to get his wife, Mercy Jepkemoi, and five-year-old son back.

Jepkemoi, 24, is said to have left her matrimonial home in Kabartonjo, Baringo County, after they quarreled.

“They quarreled each time Chesang came for her. When he came in November, Chesang stayed for a whole week begging her to go back with him but she declined,” said a neighbor, Eziline Kemboi.

“On Monday, they went back to Jepkemoi’s brother’s house. In the evening, he was overheard saying he was going away and would never come back only for his body to be found hanging from a tree,” she added.

According to neighbours, Jepkemoi had vowed never to go back to her husband.

“Chesang hanged himself after wife’s parents refused to allow him to get his wife and child back,” said Keiyo North AP commander Joseph Biwott.

The deceased’s body was taken to Iten County Referral Hospital morgue for postmortem.
