Man commits suicide in Lugari

A 30-year old man has left residents of Mwivona village, Marakusi sub-location in Kakamega county in shock after he commited suicide in a house that was under construction.

Patrick Lukungu’s body was found hanging in a house while he was holding a torch in his hand.

His death was confirmed by a woman who saw his body hanging while fetching water in Lumakanda stream.

The woman then decided to inform the police.

According to Marakusi Sub Location Assistant Chief Edith Khakali, the woman was drawing water at a nearby stream when she saw somebody who appeared to be standing inside a house that was under construction and became suspicious, and when the woman moved closer, she discovered that the body had a rope around the neck tied to the rafters.

Lukungu’s father Daniel Makokha said he had spent the previous day well with his son constructing the house and he did not notice anything was disturbing him.

“We spent the day here constructing the house which I decided to put up for him and he did not exhibit any signs of being disturbed,” he explained.

He said it was more shocking the deceased was holding a torch in the hand and appealed for thorough investigations. The body was removed by officers from Lumakanda police station and taken to Kimbilio mortuary.
